Starting this Wednesday, the Attijariwafa bank Foundation is organizing an exhibition of the best artworks from its national visual arts competition, "Imagine your city", at the Actua art space in Casablanca. More than 200 candidates from all over the Kingdom took part in the competition. Among them, 21 exhibitors were chosen, including 6 winners and 3 special mentions selected by a jury of professionals, according to a press release from the foundation. The same source indicated that the "Imagine your city" competition was an opportunity to reveal a new generation of artists and visual arts enthusiasts, who are very involved in the new creative languages of digital, performance and virtual reality environments. The Attijariwafa bank Foundation supported the winners in the production of their works, and provided them with a privileged space to exhibit their creations and incentive prizes. The aim is to highlight the vitality and richness of the Moroccan artistic scene, by showcasing the most prominent contemporary artistic practices among young people, the press release underlines. The winners will benefit from high media visibility. They will be showing their artistic creations to the general public. Creations with a wide range of visions, whether they are full of hope for a connected and futuristic city, or linked to the past and socio-demographic realities, the press release adds. This year's jury was distinguished by the quality of its members, namely Hayat Zirari, anthropologist and teacher-researcher at Hassan II University, and Abderrahim Kassou, architect, town planner and former president of the Casamémoire association, Abdelmajid Seddati, video art teacher and artistic director of the Casablanca International Video Art Festival, and Ghitha Triki, head of Art and Culture at the Attijariwafa bank Foundation, curator of the "Imagine your city" exhibition.
