“LES MOUACHAHATES” WITH TOURIA HADRAOUI AND JEAN-MARC MONTERA

Event

16/03/2024

Touria Hadraoui was the first woman to sing Malhoun, an ancestral form of sung poetry previously reserved for men, and she has established herself as an outstanding singer and personality. From Malhoun to Arabo-Andalusian and Sufi songs, this unmissable Moroccan voice is helping audiences discover or rediscover Moroccan music not only in Morocco, but also in far-flung lands. She is a regular guest on international stages and festivals. She has recorded several albums devoted to malhoun, Arabo-Andalusian and Sufi songs. For this concert at the Villa des Arts in Rabat, Touria Hadraoui will be singing a new repertoire for the first time: the Mouachahates from her new album of the same name, which she has worked on with French musician and composer Jean-Marc Montera. Jean-Marc Montera uses the full range of amplified and acoustic strings. Since the 1970s, he has multiplied his encounters and contacts with other artistic worlds, blurring the “barrier” between genres. For further information, visit lavilladesarts.ma
