A first in Morocco, SONASID has been awarded the international Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certificate for its long steels (concrete reinforcing bar and wire rod). This certification confirms the Group's position as an African leader in the production of high value-added green steel. The Sonasid Group, the country's leading steelmaker, is the first long steel producer in Morocco to obtain EPD certification. The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a report verified by an independent, internationally recognized third party, providing comprehensive, transparent and reliable information on the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle, in accordance with the ISO 14025 standard. The Group is thus at the forefront of Green Steel production, with a 100% recycling model 85% powered by renewable energies. Ismail Akalay, Managing Director of the Sonasid Group, commented: “The Group is aligning itself with the best international standards for the production of steels with a low carbon footprint, thanks to its ambitious strategy combining economic performance and sustainable development.
